Rangers Goalie Igor Shesterkin reportedly denies Massive contract offer

As reported, the Rangers reportedly offered Shesterkin an 8-year deal worth $88 million:

If he would have accepted this offer, Shesterkin would have become the highest paid goalie in NHL history. However, it seems like he wants something else in a new deal, or does not see himself long term in New York.

Following this rejection announcement, many Rangers fans took to X to share their reactions, mainly showcasing how worried they are that Shesterkin may want out of New York:

The Rangers drafted Shesterkin back in 2014 as the 118th overall pick. However, he only joined the Rangers roster during the 2019 season, nearing the end of king Henrik Lundqvist's career with the Rangers.

Since becoming the starting goalie for the Rangers, Shesterkin has been viewed as a top player in the league, with many considering him the best goalie in all of the NHL.

Shesterkin was named as an NHL All-Star in both 2023 and 2024, but has yet to bring the Rangers to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Now, with Shesterkin declining this handsome offer, many are now considering the idea of the team trading him away, if he is truly not interested in a record-breaking deal like with this one.
