Sorokin, a former Russian defender, lost his at such a young age. He spent five years in Russia's MHL, which is the league where young players in Russia work to showcase their talents-playing for teams like Yekaterinburg Auto Jr, Nizhnekamsk Reaktor, and Ufa Tolpar, racking up 205 games and tallying 55 points, including back-to-back 20-assist seasons.
He also competed in Russia's VHL, Russia's second-tier pro league. Throughout his time there, he contributed some goals and assists and was known for being reliable on the blue line. In 91 games for teams like Perm Molot-Prikamye and Samara CSK VVS, he contributed 9 points between 2016-2021.
It's heartbreaking when someone's life is taken far too soon. While this is another painful example, Sorokin's legacy as a hockey player and a person can still be celebrated. Hockey was just one part of who Yegor was, and his life was more than just the game he loved. It's always tough when we hear about players like Sorokin, who worked hard to carve out a path for himself in the sport he loved. We send our condolences to the family and his fans.
