The Columbus Blue Jackets aren't in a fantastic spot, and after struggling in his first year as Head Coach, former Jets assistant Pascal Vincent is officially out.
The Winnipeg Jets have made a recent addition to their coaching staff, but now news from elsewhere in the NHL shows a former assistant has been fired after just one year in his new role. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, disappointed with his performance as Head Coach, the Columbus Blue Jackets are moving on from Vincent already;
In one season with the Blue Jackets, Vincent lead this team to a 27-43-12 record, failing once more to even compete for a playoff spot, and while it's not all his fault, he was criticized harshly for his handling of the team. Vincent served as the Head Coach of the Manitoba Moose of the AHL from 2016 to 2021, following five years as an assistant at the NHL with the Jets, all leading up to his opportunity in Columbus.
It's unclear what his future in the NHL can be, but in one season, Vincent came under scrutiny for his usage of the youth on this team, but given his proven talent as an assistant, it shouldn't be long until he finds a new role.
