The NHL will have its first outdoor game of the year this weekend when the Flames and Oilers face off against the Calgary Flames in the Heritage Classic. Part of the tradition is special uniforms for the game. While the skaters will all be wearing the same thing, the goalies will get a chance to show off a little creativity with custom pads.
Skinner Shows Off Heritage Classic Gear
Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner showed off his new gear at a team practice ahead of the special event. By the looks of it, he modeled his throwback gear after legendary Oilers goalie Grant Fuhr.
Fuhr played with the Oilers from 1981-1991. Throughout his career with the team he played 423 games and posted a 226-117-54 record. He would go on to add another 445 games played and 177 wins across five other teams.
