A top Edmonton Oilers media personality has linked a potential crosstown defensive swap with the Calgary Flames as Edmonton faces the prospect of losing two players to offer sheets.

With the Oilers having two current players, Philip Broberg & Dylan Holloway, signed to offer sheets by the St. Louis Blues, with Edmonton yet to either match or concede the pair to St. Louis, a trade scenario helps the Oilers potentially move on, and uses a potential Blues return to help.
A potential offer was proposed by Edmonton Oilers color commentator Bob Stauffer, which sends defenseman Rasmus Andersson to Edmonton in exchange for defenseman Brett Kulak, along with a 1st and 2nd to Calgary, the second round pick coming via the offer sheet from St. Louis.
Andersson, 27, is signed with Calgary for two more seasons at $4.55M. Andersson had 9 goals and 39 points in 78 games for the Flames in 2023-24. For his age and ability to play top-four, as well as not being on an expiring contract, the return could cost more than what is proposed.
Kulak, 30, is a former draft pick of the Flames in 2012, and played four seasons with Calgary before signing with Montreal, and spending the past three seasons with Edmonton. Kulak had 3 goals and 16 points in 82 games for the Oilers in 2023-24, and makes $2.75M until 2026.
