An analyst has pointed out why Ryan McLeod of the Edmonton Oilers was benched during game 7 against the Vancouver Canucks and it's cause for concern

With the Edmonton Oilers getting ready for game 1 of the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars, there's some concern mounting over the performance of one of Edmonton's forward. Ryan Mcleod seems to have found himself in Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch's doghouse, as evidenced in game 7 against the Vancouver Canucks.
On the Jason Gregor show, the host pointed out that Mcleod found himself glued to the bench after a bad play that led to a Vancouver goal with less than half a period left in the third.
"Conor Garland takes advantage of the turnover and pulls the Canucks within two 🚨👀"
Gregor insists the benching wasn't just because of that one play, and that McLeod will have to be better to remain in the lineup.
"And I look at the fact that the coach didn't play him another shift. That to me shows you it wasn't just a one off."
The Oilers need secondary scoring in order to have any hope of defeating Dallas, and McLeod isn't delivering. He's played 12 games in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs so far, and has no goals or assists. He's also a minus-3.
"Ryan McLeod's last goal was March 21st vs Buffalo (27 games).
His last assist was April 10 vs Vegas. He's also a minus player in the past 2 months (-7). That's hard to do on an elite offensive team as a 3C. BUT HIS GOAL SUPRESSION!!!!!!"
McLeod will have to do more if he wants to remain in Edmonton's lineup down the stretch. Game 1 of the Western Conference Final between the Oilers and Stars takes place tonight.
