The NHL has seen the retirement of many incredible players in recent years, and after an announcement, it appears another star is officially done in the near future. After revealing his desire to play on in the NHL last season, the Minnesota Wild will now bid farewell to veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who has revealed that the 2024-25 campaign will be his final one in the NHL.
After being drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins, Fleury has had an incredibly consistent career over the past two decades, winning three Stanley Cup's and taking home a Vezina Trophy. Over that time, he's rocketed into the top-five in many statistical categories in NHL history, including second all-time in wins, but over the past few years, he's taken a major step back.
While the likes of Carey Price, Henrik Lundqvist and Jonathan Quick highlighting this past generation of the NHL in net, but no one has quite done it like Fleury, and over the next few years, hopefully fans will take in their final games of the iconic goaltender as he officially calls it quits.
