In his introductory Press Conference and the first time Sheldon Keefe addressed the media as the Devils Head Coach he left his mark with snide comments.
It is no secret that Toronto is a surplus for the media and there is a lot of coverage going towards the Maple Leafs. This often does not go over well with the players and staff that are employed with the Leafs. This caused Sheldon Keefe to make a particular comment on his time at Toronto and the experience as the head coach of the team,
"It was a tremendous honour to coach the Maple Leafs. There's a lot that goes into that. I've had a number of well-established coaches in the league reach out to say I should be happy now that I get to coach in the real NHL. Toronto is quite unique, it's not like the rest of the league."
In the interview nothing negative was pushed towards the Maple Leafs team or organization. There was only shots taken at the Media coverage. The comments, "the real NHL" is quite humourous but also very interesting to see that other NHL coaches in and around the league view the Toronto market as something they likely do not want to participate in.
Here is another quote coming out of the press conference that shows Keefe paying homage to his time in Toronto and how the playoff losses have shaped him to become a better coach,
"After five years and six playoff rounds, I'm a far better coach than when I arrived in the NHL."
With the new coach, Craig Berube, coming in the Toronto Maple Leafs will look to have another good season with more playoff success while the core four Leafs are still under contracts.
