The Vancouver Canucks locked into a grudge match in Game 5 against the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Arena, became incensed over a ludicrous call which resulted in beers flying fonto the ice.

The refs called a dubious charging penalty on Elias Pettersson, but he wasn't even moving. According to Rule 607, it's on the player making a hit with excessive force to make sure they're not putting their opponent in a position to be severely injured.
Canucks fans are some of the most passionate in the league. They bleed blue and green, and they take their team's success to heart. So when they feel like their boys are getting the short end of the stick from the refs, they're not afraid to make some noiseliterally.
However, beer tossing isn't the best way to express discontent. It can be dangerous, not to mention a waste of good brew! So, while we understand the passion behind it, there are definitely better ways to show support and vent frustrations.
Those fans who threw the beer could've used it when JT Miller netted the winner in the final minute, lifting Vancouver to a 3-2 win and series lead.
