The Vancouver Canucks will be without a key piece in game four against the Edmonton Oilers, and his teammate isn't happy about the situation.
Game three between Vancouver and Edmonton was a wild one, and it ended with Carson Soucy cross-checking Connor McDavid to the face, resulting in a one-game suspension.
The play didn't come about for no reason, as McDavid was certainly instigating things with the hulking defenseman, but unsurprisingly, it was just Soucy that was reprimanded.
While most fans watching could see that this was certainly a suspension worthy play, teammate Nikita Zadorov didn't see it that way, as he called out the NHL for protecting their big investment' in Connor McDavid.
«They have to protect their investment.. that's my understanding».
Zadorov on the NHL suspending Soucy.
This wouldn't come as a big surprise, as sports leagues have been all about protecting their biggest stars for decades now, but it's unusual for players to be so open of their criticism for the league.
What we have seen is players and coaches fined for criticizing the league and the officials in recent years, so expect something similar to happen here, but all we can see is a series that's ready to explode between two Canadian rivals.
