The Winnipeg Jets continue dwindling down their roster ahead of the 2024/25 regular season, and now they've sent two top prospects back to juniors.
The Winnipeg Jets are heading into the regular season with confidence that they can build on their success a season ago, but that doesn't mean they don't have a bright future ahead. Two of the most promising pieces for their future have now been sent back to juniors, with the Jets now officially sending both Colby Barlow and Brayden Yager, the piece they got in the return for Rutger McGroarty back to their respective junior teams.
On top of that, Winnipeg also cut G Domenic DiVincentiis, F Parker Ford and F Daniel Torgersson, sending them back to the AHL's Manitoba Moose, getting their roster down to 34 healthy players in camp, with 36 total. On top of these moves, Winnipeg beat writer Mike McIntyre believes that more moves are on the horizon, with the regular season opener on the road against the Edmonton Oilers now just a week away for the Jets.
Thus far in the pre-season, the Jets haven't seen a young name step up and stake their claim to a spot on the regular season roster, so things will be much the same as they were a season ago in their lineup, but with some intriguing names throughout the organization, things could change very soon if the team can't recapture their impressive form of a season ago.
