ESPN's coverage of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs Final got interesting when PK Subban trashed the Edmonton Oilers, while former player Mark Messier looked on

As an NHL player, PK Subban was a master at getting under the skin of opponents, without even really doing much to get them going. He can do the same with his co-hosts as well as he now serves as an NHL analyst. That was on full display during game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final.
The big story of the Cup final so far is the Florida Panthers' domination of the Oilers, shutting down their top players, and monopolizing the offense. While discussing these things during an intermission in game 3, Subban indicated a couple of times that the Oilers defense is soft, something co-analyst and Oilers legend Mark Messier didn't seem to care for at all.
Messier played for two other NHL teams during his lengthy career (New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks), but is certainly best known for his time in Edmonton, and there has to be at least some piece of him rooting for the Oilers to bring the Stanley Cup home. While not impossible, it is very unlikely after losing the first three in a row. Fans took notice of Messier's hateful look while Subban ran down the Oilers blueline.
"Wow Subban calling the Oilers soft just brutal."
"And I had to check, but the Oilers don't have Scott Howson to blame for this mess. In other news, PK Subban's torching of Edmonton is entirely justified. Even Messier had to agree. Soft, soft, soft.

(And as a CBJ observer, I know soft when I see it.)"
Game 4 takes place Saturday night in Edmonton, and will require the Oilers to have their best game of the playoffs so far in order to stay alive. Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has certainly played a massive role in his team's success, but the Panthers, led by Aleksander Barkov, have been excellent at shutting down other teams' top players since the start of the postseason.
