Major Turnaround in Edmonton, Thanks to Kris Knoblauch

The Edmonton Oilers decided to change coach after a horrible start of the season. They replaced Jay Woodcroft by Kris Knoblauch, which proved to be a turning point for the team.
The Oilers won their seventh game in a row last Saturday against the Ottawa Senators to slide into the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Tomorrow, against the Chicago Blackhawks, the Oilers could win an 8th consecutive win, equalizing their precedent streak that occured when Knoblauch first joined the team.
Interestingly, that eight win streak is the longest in the NHL this season.
Even more interestingly, Knoblauch is the first coach in NHL history to achieve two seven win streak in his first 25 games as a head coach.

Knoblauch Opens Up on Breaking NHL Record

The new coach talked about his record in a recent interview:
"It's new to me. I'm happy the team's winning and playing well. It was only a matter of time before they started winning hockey games, no matter what message I sent. Hopefully we've got many more seven game winning streaks."

The Oilers were already poised to a great season, it just seemed that Jay Woodcroft wasn't the right coach for the players.
Knoblauch and Paul Coffey must be doing something right.
