Golden Knights bidding to win over Coyotes fans as team moves to Utah
Arizona Coyotes fans have been through the ringer.
The move to Salt Lake City is real, and now the Vegas Golden Knights are making a bold play to win over the Arizona hockey faithful.
After years of uncertainty, Alex Meruelo sold the team to Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith. The Coyotes are now officially the Utah Hockey Club, and so after losing their franchise after a 28 year stint in the dessert, fans are left wondering Do they follow the move, or start fresh and support Vegas?
The Golden Knights aren't waiting around. They're stepping up, offering Coyotes fans a chance to watch their games on local Arizona channels, with events like watch parties and hockey clinics popping up all over Phoenix and Tucson.
Vegas, known for its instant success and rowdy fanbase, wants to give Arizona fans a new home without asking them to cross state lines.
Meanwhile, the Utah Hockey Club is off to a strong start, packing the Delta Center for new arena in for their first preseason game.
Plans for a permanent arena are in motion, and the new ownership seems committed to building something special in Utah. It'll be interesting to see where pack transfer their allegiances too. They can head to Utah, or jump on the Golden Knights bandwagon and stay close to home.
It's a tough call, but either way, their passion for hockey must remain strong.
