One of the players that was requested to surrender to London police is Calgary Flames Dillon Dube. Today he joined former Senators forward Alex Formenton in publicly releasing a statement, confirming that he is facing charges but will plead not guilty.
The statement comes from Dube's personal lawyer and it also confirms that he is being charged with s**al assault. Previously, Dube had taken a leave of absence from the Flames, citing mental health reasons.
The team is now facing backlash for the statement, as his absence was clearly related to the investigation. However, this will not matter in the long run. All that matters is that a fair trial is held and that a verdict is reached. Regardless though, Dube's future in the NHL seems bleak at best.
