The new Amazon series "Faceoff" really takes fans inside team's dressing rooms, truly showing every detail. The Colorado Avalanche were part of that group.

As one of the focuses in the central documentary series on Amazon Prime, Gabriel Landeskog's journey through injury and recovery has given an often deeply personal look at struggles he has dealt with since suffering a knee injury during the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs. This series takes into consideration not only the physical toll of the injury but also looks into the emotional burden that Landeskog has had to go through: frustrations, hopes, and setbacks he went through during recovery. His struggle to get back on the ice is an example of a character test; it shows how strong he was to battle all odds for his career, fans, and team.
Besides the injury in itself, the film follows the off-ice life of an NHL player-an incredibly personal look at a life that few hockey players ever allow the world to see. It gives audiences an unprecedented look into Landeskog's rehabilitation process, including his grueling training sessions, medical treatments, and emotional support from his family. It gives a complete glimpse of what it truly means for a professional athlete to deal with a long-term injury: how to get back into the sport and take the reality of the recovery process into one's hands.
Other behind-the-scenes moments from the show are the very emotive and inspiring speech by the head coach of Avalanche, Jared Bednar. This scene says something about Bednar's leadership philosophy; how he stimulates and encourages his players at vital times. From all the time Landeskog was on with his family, to the camaraderie in the locker room, fans can appreciate the series for giving them a comprehensive overview of what happens other than on the rink and deepens their view of the pressures and realities NHL players have to face.
Spotty goaltending was one of the early concerns for the Colorado Avalanche through preseason games. The goalies' struggles bring up questions as to how well they will start the upcoming season, with Alexandar Georgiev entering a contract year. Pressure will be on the goaltenders to step up their game and stabilize the team's defense. NHL preseason is a way to have some early indication of what could be, but a grain of salt is best taken with the outcomes since past preseasons for the Avalanche have shown that it's not always indicative of regular-season success. You could do very well in preseason but have a horrible regular season, and vice-versa. But to some degree, it does lend a way to areas needing to be worked on and expected.
In the end, the Amazon Prime series on the Colorado Avalanche not only documents the continuing fight of Gabriel Landeskog to make a return but also relays the different ups and downs that the team confronts on and off the ice. Also, the performance of players in training camp and with question marks over goaltending, the preseason indeed unveils certain necessary insights to management. As the regular season draws near, the Avalanche must take on these challenges if they are to become formidable contenders.
