Colorado Avalanche re-sign forward Logan O'Connor to a massive deal

The Colorado Avalanche have a fantastic core of players that helped them win the 2022 Stanley Cup, and now that the team are looking to do it again, they've made some big moves this summer. On Monday, they announced another one of those big moves, with forward Logan O'Connor officially locked in on a six-year extension, keeping him with the Avalanche until he's 34-years of age.

According to one of the NHL's top insiders in Pierre LeBrun, the deal comes with an annual value of $2.5 million, and given O'Connor's reliability and production, that is fantastic value for the team, who need to continue growing their depth around the superstar group that leads the team as they aim to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Beyond O'Connor, Colorado also have Nathan Mackinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, Devon Toews and Cale Makar all locked in for the near future, making 2024/25 yet another Stanley Cup or bust season for the team. Logan has been a very consistent player over the past three years, and before hip surgery cut his 2023/24 campaign short, he was on track for career highs across the board, and at 28-years of age, the team believe he can be a solid piece in the bottom-six for another Stanley Cup run.

In 263 games at the NHL level, the Texas native has just 35 goals and 82 points, so there is certainly some areas that he needs to improve upon, but with the team showing faith in him, they clearly believe he can be a major help, so if he's 100% this season, look for a career year from O'Connor.
