The Jeremy Swayman situation in Boston could be getting volatile, and now, Colorado Avalanche fans are heating up with their desire to land the 25-year old star.
It's been well known for quite some time now that the Colorado Avalanche have needed goaltending help, and while they were reportedly in on both Jacob Markstrom and Linus Ullmark, they fell short in negotiations. Now, another Boston Bruins goaltender may be available, and it's led to the question, what would it take to bring Jeremy Swayman to Colorado?
That very question was posted on social media recently, and it has Avs fans incredibly excited that it could be a possibility. Fortunately, most fans were very well aware that to get Swayman would be very expensive, as the team would not only need to match his salary in a trade, but give the Bruins something of substance as well as handing the 25-year old a big deal, likely upwards of $8.5 million per season.
Boston receives; F Ross Colton, F Miles Wood + another player and 2nd round draft pick.
While it's easy to put together intriguing trade proposals, it's another thing to slot Swayman into their lineup with his asking price of over $8 million AAV, making this deal much more difficult than simple trade proposals. Ultimately, this could leave the Avalanche asking whether or not hamstringing their roster with such a big cap hit could be worth it for another run at the Stanley Cup, as Swayman appears to be the talent that could take them there.
At this point, Boston haven't shown interest in trading him, but given how negotiations have gone thus far, if it becomes a possibility, expect Colorado to be one of the teams interested.
