After a storied NHL career, Ben Bishop is returning to the NHL after retiring in 2021 due to injury.

Bishop's New Role

Bishop is joining the Stars as a Player Development Coordinator, a role previously occupied by another former NHL player, Rich Peverly.
According to NHL.com, Bishop has looked right at home in his first few weeks in the new position. Bishops noted that his love for the Stars organization has made the transition in careers an easy one.
"I love the organization," [. . .] "Jim's been great and I know everybody in the organization, so it's kind of an easy transition than if you went to a different organization and had to meet everybody from scratch. I feel like I'm a Dallas Star."

A Lot to Learn

Interestingly, Bishops will be focused on developing forwards and defensemen, not goalies. Though this won't stop him from asking questions, he noted.
Bishops ended his career with 3 Vezina nominations, a 2.32 GAA, and a .921 save percentage.
