The Edmonton Oilers failed to make a deep run in last year's playoffs, and it's forced their hand to make some moves this summer, including adding several veterans on PTO's.

A 1,000 game veteran

One of those veterans is former Oilers forward Sam Gagner, who is looking to revitalize his career with Edmonton after a solid season in Winnipeg during the 2022-23 campaign.
Over that solid career, Gagner has racked up 192 goals and 519 points, and while he never quite hit the heights that some expected, he continues to be a solid player and could make an impact as a veteran for Edmonton.

A major setback

Unfortunately, it has now been confirmed that Gagner has suffered a major setback, as he has had surgery on both hips recently, and as a result, he won't be able to step on the ice in any games during the pre-season.
Sam Gagner who had surgery on both hips will only practise in camp and won't play games. In a PT0 He will be evaluated in a month and might go to Bakersfield.
Thankfully, he will be able to continue in practice on the ice, and given the Oilers know his game well, he could still have a great chance to make the team, but with so much young talent, this could end up costing him a role with Edmonton.
