Most people have suggested that the Oilers trade for a goaltender, however, their current prospect Olivier Rodrigue is making a case for himself in the AHL. Rodrique is 5-2-2 record with an unbelievable 2.09 GAA and .939 save percentage through 10 games with the Condors in the AHL.
Even though it feels like the season just started, the trade deadline is fast approaching. The Oilers are in a precarious position, as they continue to fight their way out of the hole they dug themselves at the beginning of the year.
Ken Holland faces a difficult move right now, risking the Oilers' potential future success for short-term gains. If they want to trade Campbell's salary away, they likely have to move a prospect or a pick, hurting themselves in the long run. However, if Holland and the Oilers truly believe that the time to win is now, maybe it is worth it to give up some of their future pieces.
