This Edmonton Oilers prospect is emerging as a potential answer for their current problems, forcing Ken Holland into a major decision.

Olivier Rodrigue Emerging As A Potential Answer For Oilers' Problems

There's no question the Oilers have a goaltending problem, one that started when Jack Campbell started the season poorly. Now, they are looking for potential answers to help Stuart Skinner the remainder of the year.
Most people have suggested that the Oilers trade for a goaltender, however, their current prospect Olivier Rodrigue is making a case for himself in the AHL. Rodrique is 5-2-2 record with an unbelievable 2.09 GAA and .939 save percentage through 10 games with the Condors in the AHL.

Oilers Need to Figure Out How Risky They Want to Be At the Deadline

Even though it feels like the season just started, the trade deadline is fast approaching. The Oilers are in a precarious position, as they continue to fight their way out of the hole they dug themselves at the beginning of the year.
If Skinner cnts to get .914save% under our newer D Zone system, DO NOT trade for another goalie🚫 Don't waste assets to trade Campbell. Buying out is the option.

If we get Skinner/Rodrigue we're doing WONDERS for our future in net.

Trade for a top 6 is best for Oilers!
Ken Holland faces a difficult move right now, risking the Oilers' potential future success for short-term gains. If they want to trade Campbell's salary away, they likely have to move a prospect or a pick, hurting themselves in the long run. However, if Holland and the Oilers truly believe that the time to win is now, maybe it is worth it to give up some of their future pieces.
If they do choose to move Campbell, they better hope that Rodrigue isn't the answer they had under their nose the entire time.
