This lack of playoff success has led to many fans and analysts expecting that either one or both McDavid/Drasaitl will be on the way out when they're contract is up, but it appears it may not be as simple as that.

On the latest episode of Oilers Now, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed that it's very likely as of right now that Draisaitl will sign a long-term deal with the Oilers, which is unsurprising given how he's thrived in Alberta.
A star tandem
In 2022-23, these two combined for an incredible 281 points, with Draisaitl contributing 128 of those, and now, the next step will be for them to make a deep playoff run in a wide open Western Conference.
There's still time for plenty of things to change between now and when their contracts are up, but barring a major change or turn of events, it appears Edmonton will be set up front for a long time to come.
