This past year was rather lackluster for Holloway. In 51 NHL games, Holloway only managed 3 goals and 9 points. However, when he was sent to the AHL for 12 games, he managed 10 points showing that his current totals may not be a reflection of his ability as a player but rather the opportunities he is getting.
With the Oilers' top six being so loaded, boasting the likes of McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins, Kane, and Hyman, it seems like there is little room for Holloway in the top six.
At the end of the day, if the Oilers want Holloway to develop into a star, they need to give him more ice time and more opportunities on the powerplay to prove himself as the star he can be.
