A former Edmonton Oilers star defenceman has been made a healthy scratch ahead of his current team's game tonight with reports a trade is coming.

Barry Trotz Gives Go Ahead for Player to Find Trade

According to Sportnet's Elliotte Friedman, defenceman Tyson Barrie has been given permission to seek a trade by Nashville Predators GM Barry Trotz. In the meantime, Barrie will sit out tonight's game against the New York Rangers.
"There is word today the Nashville Predators have given Tyson Barrie permission to talk to other teams. Barrie is expected to be a scratch vs the Rangers and is a UFA after this season. This allows team and player to see if there is a better fit elsewhere."

While the bulk of his career was spent with the Colorado Avalanche, Barrie played parts of three seasons with the Edmonton Oilers from 2020 to 2023. Since then, he's been with Nashville the previous two seasons after being signed to a two-year deal that carries an annual cap hit of $4.5 million.
