The Edmonton Oilers are ready for the 2023-24 season and are coming back with a vengeance.
Edmonton's Disappointment
Last year, the Edmonton Oilers looked as if they could go all the way. With superstars in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl plus the emergence of Evan Bouchard on the back end, it seemed like they were going to go far in the playoffs.
This was until they met with the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2nd round and lost in six games in a back-and-forth series.
Recently, insider Elliotte Friedman went onto the NHL Network and touched up on the Oilers. Here is what he said:
Friedman on NHL Tonight today says the Oilers are in a "Cup or Bust" mentality going into this season and there is a VERY bad taste in their mouths about how the series against Vegas went.
A "Cup or Bust" mentality is carried by the best teams in the NHL year in and year out. Tampa, Colorado, Boston, Vegas, Carolina, and basically any team that has been competitive for a few seasons carries this mentality.
The Oilers have a loaded team heading into next season and with McDavid coming back with something to prove, we could see him have one of the best seasons of all time assuming he stays healthy.
