After a somewhat successful campaign in 2022-23 that was ended by the eventual Cup Champion Vegas Golden Knights, many believed the Edmonton Oilers were in prime position for a Stanley Cup run of their own this year.

A horrible start

Even with Connor McDavid missing just one game, the Oilers have picked up just one victory through their first six games this season, and although it's early, alarm bells are ringing for many fans and analysts of the team.
Their latest performance saw them drop yet another game, this time by a 7-4 margin against the Minnesota Wild, and while the defence and goaltending carry major questions, it's the coaching that has now also come into focus.

A change needed in Edmonton?

In that loss, the Oilers took not one, not two but three 'too many men on the ice' penalties, and with their struggles overall, this has many fans calling for Jay Woodcroft's job.
Since taking over as the Head Coach of the Oilers, Woodcroft has a solid 76-32-12 record, but their latest performances have left much to be desired, and with Stanley Cup aspirations, if he can't find a way to turn it around, the Oilers may be forced to take drastic action.
