Not even a week after he was fired, the Edmonton Oilers are facing backlash from an NHL analyst for letting go of Head Coach Jay Woodcroft.

NHL Analyst Tears The Oilers to Shreds After Controversial Move

One of the most well known and respected names in the NHL Pierre LeBrun voiced his frustration with the Oilers and Woodcroft situation.
«I think it's bullshit that Jay Woodcroft was fired when he was. I think he should have been given more time. I think the under-lying numbers suggested a team that was about to turn it around. I do not believe he lost the room. The guys were still playing hard for him. And I would have given Jay Woodcroft more time. Now Kris Knoblauch may end up being the greatest Oilers coaching hire ever. Let's not take away from him. It might be unbelievable. And then people are going to go back and say, Well, there you go. That was exactly the right move at the right time.' How do you know? How do you know if there's not another week of Woodcroft that the Oilers aren't on a run? I didn't like it. That's my opinion. I could be wrong.»

-Pierre LeBrun

Even McDavid agreed with LeBrun saying that Woodcroft never lost the locker room, which is always a sign the coach should be let go.
The Oilers were on a really bad start but it was due to a league worse goaltending save percentage.
The former coach of the Oilers leaves them with the best point percentage in the teams history at 0.643
He leaves the Oilers with a very impressive record of 79-31-13 and lead the team to a conference finals appearance.

The New Look Oilers, Surround McDavid

The Oilers have clearly tried to make their star McDavid as happy as possible, many have compared his path to the one of NBA's LeBron James.
He now has his former Junior Head Coach as his new NHL head coach, his agent is now the CEO of Hockey Operations. It seems the Oilers are doing everything in their power to keep McDavid happy and wanting to stay in Edmonton.
The Coaching change has seen some early success with the team as they are off to a 2-0-0 start under Kris Knoblauch. It will be worth seeing long term if the Oilers made the right choice.
