Today an Oilers forward got his first NHL goal and used the moment to pay tribute to his mom.

Today in the first period of the game between the Edmonton Oilers and Tampa Bay Lightning a monumental first happened for one Oiler. Forward James Hamblin scored the first goal of his NHL career.
As you might notice Hamblin immediately upon realizing he scored points to the sky. This turned out to be a tribute to his mom.
Hamblin Pays Tribute To His Mom
James Hamblin's mom passed away after a battle with cancer in 2017. Her presence was heavily on his mind as he scored and immediately pointed up toward the sky and said "I love you, mom".

Losing such an important person can be a gut-wrenching experience that stays with a person for life. Hamblin's mother still is on his mind years after her passing and I'm sure would be immensely proud of her son's incredible accomplishments.
