It's not a good time to be Jack Campbell, and things seem to be going even further south when it comes to his NHL career.

Insider Says Oilers Are Done with Jack Campbell

Campbell was sent to the AHL's Bakersfield Condors on Nov. 7, 2023 in the the hope that he could find his game again following a string of terrible game with the Edmonton Oilers. It hasn't worked. In fact, Sportsnet Insider Elliotte Friedman says it appears his 10 games with Bakersfield have been awful enough that he's lost the starter's position.
"Friedman on [Jeff] Marek Show suggests Jack Campbell has lost his job in [Bakersfield] & that Olivier Rodrigue is gonna get a run here."

"*a run here meaning, as [Bakersfield's] starter*

Rodrigue is a 23-year-old second round draft pick in 2018 who has never played a game in the NHL. Simply put, he is outplaying Campbell at the moment and Campbell isn't even really giving him much competition.

Jack Campbell has Been Beaten Out of the Starter's Position in the AHL

Rodrigue 3-2-1 with a .938 save percentage and a 2.14 goals against average with the Condors so far this season. Campbell has played 10 games with the team and is 4-6-0, with a save percentage of .888 and a goals against average of 3.46. While Rodrigue has to catch up a bit in the number of games played, his numbers are clearly better than Campbell's at the moment across the board. A massive lowpoint for Campbell, and for the Oilers as well. His trade value was already low. It will cost the Oilers a great deal to get him out of Edmonton if his AHL play continues.
