The Edmonton Oilers are off to a catastrophically bad start to their season. In a year where many predicted them to win the Pacific division if not be Stanley Cup favorites, the team is struggling to win shifts, let alone hockey games. If the team does not show major improvements in the next game, major changes could be coming to the organization.
At this point, it almost seems like a foregone conclusion that Jay Woodcroft will be fired soon. Assuming the Oilers lose their next game against Vancouver, it very well could come after that one. One former NHL referee already thinks he knows who their next bench boss will be.
While Quenneville's Resume as a coach speaks for itself, his involvement in covering up the Blackhawks 2010 sexual assault speaks even louder. To this day, the NHL has not reinstated him meaning he is ineligible to hold a position with an NHL team. As such, the Oilers will have to look elsewhere if they do in fact make a coaching change.
