The Edmonton Oilers season has been a wild ride thus far, but with their focus on a Stanley Cup, it's going to get much more difficult from here on out.

Oilers plans ahead of the March 8 trade deadline

The Oilers have been in rumours all season long, and after netting Corey Perry as a free agent, it's clear that their list of needs isn't quite as long as it once was.
Now, in an interview with Pierre LeBrun, CEO of Hockey Operations Jeff Jackson has talked about their major plans for the Oilers ahead of the trade deadline;
«Lots can change between now and the deadline. We're on a heater of a streak right now, but we've been healthy knock on wood. We haven't had to address that sort of thing,» Jackson said. «Right now I would say we're looking at all the options to make our team better: up front, on the back end and in goal. But we're also super happy with our group and very cognizant of the fact we added Corey Perry, which was like going out and making a deal to get a veteran player with his resume.

«We're also cognizant of the fact there's great chemistry on our team. The team is in flow. They're feeling it together. They're all contributing. So, we're not sitting on our hands saying, OK, this team is exactly the way we want it.' But we've got to monitor things as we get closer to March 8 and determine whether we need to address an injury or somebody stops playing the way they're playing now and we think we can be better by making a deal.»

Moves to make for the Edmonton Oilers

While Jackson doesn't point out a singular need, he reveals that the Oilers have been looking at many options, and with their needs on the blue line and potentially in net, that gives them many options.
Ultimately, the Oilers 16 game win streak is fantastic for them, but to take the next step there's still things they need to fix, and with Jackson showing that they are doing their due diligence around the league, this team could get better come March 8.
