With Edmonton Oilers GM Ken Holland hitting the phones in a bid to shed his team of goaltender Jack Campbell's contract, we now know who he'll put up as bait to see if he can lure another GM in.

Oilers to Offer Sweetener to Get Rid of Goaltender

It's no secret that Holland has been trying to ship Campbell out, but his anchor of a contract won't make it easy. With another three seasons left on his $5 million per year deal after this one, Holland will need to sweeten the pot to get any potential partners, and TSN Insider Darren Dreger Believes Philip Broberg fits the bill.
"He wants to be back in the NHL, that's not likely in Edmonton unless there is an injury, so trade seems the most likely. Here's an interesting twist, maybe it's not Broberg for an asset coming back to the Oilers. Maybe Broberg becomes the sweetner so that they can also move Jack Campbell's contract to free up a little bit of cap space."

Oilers May Use Former First-round Pick to Encourage a Jack Campbell Trade

While an 8th overall pick should be attractive, the issue is Broberg doesn't have a lot of NHL experience, and hasn't really showed his potential when he gets it. The ability is there, but it likely hasn't been displayed enough to cause many teams to be willing to take on Campbell's contract. Most likely trade partners include the Montreal Canadiens, who have been trying to collect picks and prospects for a rebuild, as well as the New Jersey Devils, who are as desperate for consistent goaltending as the Oilers.
