Connor McDavid has been the NHL's best player for a number of years now, making it a major surprise to many that he's not the highest paid player in the league on an annual basis.
An NHL superstar
Over the past two years, McDavid has put up an incredible 276 points, and with three Hart Trophies to prove he's the leagues best, it's only a matter of time until he gets paid in a big way.
Now, it has been revealed that if he wanted too, Connor could have already had that mantle, as the Oilers offered him a massive deal when he became a free agent back in 2017.
An all-time great?
McDavid still has two years left on his current deal, but when that's up, many expect him to sign a long-term deal in Edmonton that would deservedly make him the highest paid player in NHL history.
For now though, it was a very respectable move for Connor to make as he turned down a whopping $13.3 million AAV on his last deal, allowing the team to hold onto the likes of Leon Draisaitl, but now, the pair need to go out and win on the biggest stage.
