The Edmonton Oilers captain, Connor McDavid, had a terrible excuse for losing their first game of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Florida Panthers.

Let's face it: the Oilers lost because they faced a hot goalie last night. Sergei Bobrovsky was red hot and had his second shutout of the playoffs.
Edmonton fired 32 times at the Panthers' net, and Bobrovsky made incredible saves to keep his team in the game:
After such a performance, any member of the losing team could blame their loss on the fact that they faced a hot goalie. However, Connor McDavid had other things to say.
He blamed the "hockey gods," who were "getting back" at them after game six of the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Stars:
"Maybe it was the hockey gods getting us back for that Game 6," said McDavid, briefly forcing a smile. "You know where we probably didn't deserve to win."

"Tonight maybe we deserved at least one goal, maybe two goals, and we don't find a way to get them."

In the end, McDavid still believed his team didn't deserve to win. As any good leader, he added that he knows they'll be able to bounce back for game two:
"I know this group will stick with it, bounce back, that's what we take a lot of pride in doing. We'll gear up for a big one on Monday."
Do you think the Edmonton Oilers will win game two of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday?
