Heading into Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals Edmonton forward Corey Perry was asked about his future in the NHL and gave a shocking answer.
After being passed around from team to team chasing a Stanley Cup for several seasons many wondered how long Corey Perry had left in his career. This season was turbulent after being bought out by the Chicago Blackhawks and then picked up by the Edmonton Oilers.
Now with Game 7 approaching the media asked him his thoughts about the future. Despite the speculation that he would be retiring Corey Perry shut down that conversation. Instead, he doubled down and committed to several more seasons in the NHL.
Corey Perry, asked if tmw will be his last game:
"Uh, no. I've got more in me. I've got lots more in me: five more years."
Corey Perry has shown he has a knack for being part of winning teams. He has been on a team to make the Stanley Cup Finals 4 of the last 5 years. He has yet to cross that elusive threshold and win the Stanley Cup despite his incredible success in getting there.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Corey Perry. He clearly is a depth player as far as skill goes at this point in his career. However, the leadership and incredible consistency he brings in winning will always be valuable.
On Monday he will have an opportunity to add a Stanley Cup to his resume. If he loses he becomes one of the players in the NHL who has faced the most heartbreak in his career.
