The Edmonton Oilers may be the biggest underdog going into round three versus the Dallas Stars after recent poll by NHL analysts.
Despite the Edmonton Oilers having the best player in the league as in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and their two series wins in this playoff campaign, NHL analysts see them as a weak opponent compared to the Dallas Stars with the majority voting for the Stars to end their season.
Ouch! 80% of NHL analysts pick Dallas Stars over Edmonton Oilers
At least one analyst is relying on the Oilers to beat the stars. Jace Evans argued that Oilers' captain Connor McDavid can send the Stars home despite them being the better team overall on paper.
Jace Evans: «I have no real reason to pick Edmonton. The Stars' goaltending is significantly better. Their defense is better. Their forward depth is better. So why am I picking the Oilers? Because the Oilers have Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, two of the best players of their generation in their prime.»
It's going to be hard to discredit the Dallas Stars who are fresh off beating the two most recent Stanley Cup Champions in the Colorado Avalanche and the Vegas Golden Knights. However counting out McDavid is a mistake that will be remembered forever.
