A new report from The Hockey Writers has indicated that the Edmonton Oilers are looking to trade for an NHL captain on another team. The player would fill a huge need for the Oilers going forward.

Oilers Linked To Another Team's Captain In Recent Trade Talks

The Edmonton Oilers have been looking to add depth to their forward group. Reports are indicating that trade talks are heating up between the Oilers and Columbus Blue Jackets. The centerpiece coming back to the Oilers would be Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner.
There is speculation linking Boone Jenner to the Edmonton Oilers

In Jenner, the Oilers would get a veteran forward with playoff experience. Jenner comes with a low cap hit but does have a modified no-trade clause.

Can Jenner Be The Missing Link In Edmonton?

Boone Jenner would add a middle-six center to the Oilers lineup. This season his scoring has dropped off significantly which could drop his value from previous seasons.
If the Oilers believe they can get him back on track and scoring Jenner could be a good addition. He would likely slot in as the third line center behind McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. If he doesn't get back to his old self it could end up being a terrible move for the Oilers.
In the scenario where the Oilers go after a forward Jenner is probably one of the better options. However, many around the league believe their defense or goaltending are bigger needs on account of how many goals they give up.
