The Edmonton Oilers have some huge roster decisions to make before the regular season, and now they've made some more cuts to the roster.

The front end of the Edmonton Oilers roster is more stacked with star power than any other in the NHL, but down the lineup, they've still got some cuts to make, and on Wednesday, they officially made several more. According to a report on social media, with the team releasing Jasper Weatherby, Brett Brochu, Connor Corcoran, Alex Konnock-Leipert and Cameron Wright from their PTO's after solid pre-seasons for all.
On top of that, the team have also assigned several players to the Bakersfield Condors, with Connor Ungar, Matvei Petrov, James Stefan and Jayden Grubbe all sent back to the AHL ahead of the 2024/25 season.
This has whittled down the Oilers roster even further, and while we know what the top three lines in the forward group will look like, these recent cuts have answered plenty of questions about the depth pieces on the Oilers roster.
With names like Raphael Savoie, Matt Savoie and Vasily Podkolzin all still fighting for spots, the team have the option to go much younger in their bottom-six or to continue with their veteran lineup, and given they just went through a long season and potentially have another one ahead, it's safe to say that those decisions could effect the results of the Oilers in 2024/25. The pre-season is almost over with the regular season quickly approaching, so we will learn much more about these rosters in the coming days, but for now, we will continue getting a much clearer picture of the Edmonton roster day by day.
