There has been plenty of turnover for the Edmonton Oilers this off-season, and now, after moving on from their GM, their assistant General Manager has followed suit.
Earlier this off-season, in very unsurprising fashion, the Edmonton Oilers parted ways with General Manager Ken Holland, and on Tuesday, they made another move when they officially announced the departure of assistant GM, Brad Holland.
"We thank Brad for his work during his time with the organization & we wish him well in his future endeavours." - Jeff Jackson
This move comes after a flurry of brilliant ones this summer from President of Hockey Operations Jeff Jackson, and while the move to hire Stan Bowman as General Manager was a controversial one, he appears to have a handle on the way he wants things to run in Edmonton. After the departure of Ken, it made sense that Brad would no longer follow, and while fans speculated it may not have been as mutual as this post makes out, it's still the right move for Edmonton.
Ultimately, Ken and Brad had a major role in building the squad around Edmonton, but they just couldn't get over the hump under their leadership, so this signals a new start in Edmonton, and with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl still on the ice, it may be the breath of fresh air that helps this team finally achieve their Stanley Cup goals.
