The Edmonton Oilers have been looking for an answer to their goaltending woes for years, and when the team inked Jack Campbell to a five-year deal, they believed it was the end of their problems. Two years on however, and Campbell is now officially being waived and bought out after a tumultuous run where
Stuart Skinner took over his role as the starter, eventually finding himself as an AHL regular.
In 41 games with the Oilers, Campbell posted a 3.61 GAA along with an .886 save percentage, and at the price he was being paid, it just wasn't cutting it for Edmonton. Now, the 32-year old is set to hit the market again, and while he's shown promise, it's unclear if he'll ever be at the NHL level again, with the Oilers set to pay him for a long time to come.
