Evander Kane provides big update following his surgery
The Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane finally provided an update following his massive surgery.
When the official team practices started, management revealed that Kane was still suffering from the injuries that forced him to miss games in the playoffs.
Indeed, Kane had to undergo a major surgery to repair two hernias, both of his abductors, and two abdominal tears.
As reported on X by Oilers reporter Daniel Nugent-Bowman:
Yesterday, an official update was finally released.
Kane posted a picture on Instagram in which we can see him after his surgery, giving a thumbs up. He wrote in the caption how thankful he is to the hospital staff for his successful surgery, but he's "still a long road ahead" from getting back on the ice.
Whether you like the guy or not, it's great to know that his surgery went well and that he can start his recovery to come back and help the Oilers get back to the Stanley Cup Finals.
We likely won't know when he'll be back until he returns to practice, which could be in a few months. It'll be interesting to see if the Oilers decide to wait until the playoffs to add him to the lineup, using the strategy that has worked well in the past: circumventing the cap.
