An insider revealed how much money Adam Henrique lost by staying with the Edmonton Oilers this summer.

At the 2024 trade deadline, the Edmonton Oilers seriously bolstered their lineup ahead of the Stanley Cup playoffs by acquiring Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick in a deal with the Anaheim Ducks.
On July 1st, a few days after the Oilers were eliminated in the 7th game of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Florida Panthers, Henrique became a free agent and decided to stay in Edmonton.
He agreed to the terms of a two-year contract valued at $6 million, with a $3 million average annual value, with the Oilers.
A new report revealed that he had other offers on the table.
Indeed, Kurt Leavins of the Edmonton Journal stated that Henrique turned down an offer from the Winnipeg Jets, where he could have earned $3.5 million a year.
In his own words:
"A contact of mine in Winnipeg who has knowledge of the conversations says that Adam Henrique turned down a 2-year, $3.5m contract from the Winnipeg Jets at free agency this summer. Instead, he opted for the Oilers on a 2-year, $3m deal to stay in Edmonton. While $500k may not seem like a lot in an $88m cap world, that is about two thirds that of a minimum salaried player."

In 22 games with the Oilers in the regular season, the 34-year-old veteran scored nine points, including six goals. In the playoffs, he tallied four goals and three assists.
Next season, he should center the team's third line, with many possibilities regarding his linemates. We could easily see him with Jeff Skinner, Connor Brown, or Mattias Janmark.
