In breaking news, forward Filip Zadina signed a contract in Europe, putting an end to his NHL stint.
After spending a year in the San Jose Sharks organization, the Detroit Red Wings' 6th overall pick in 2018, Filip Zadina, is leaving North America despite numerous rumors about a PTO in the NHL.
Indeed, ESPN's Kevin Weekes reported a few days ago that many teams, including the Montreal Canadiens and the Buffalo Sabres, were interested in signing the player to a professional tryout contract:
However, he opted to leave North America and the NHL to join Davos Hockey Club in the Swiss National League, where he signed a two-year contract.
Jan Alston, the organization's general manager, made the following comment about his most recent acquisition, Filip Zadina:
"Despite his young age, Filip brings a lot of experience and offensive qualities. He is still very young and has not yet reached his full potential. Filip will be one of seven foreign players in the squad. This will give the coaching staff more options to put the best team on the ice in every game."
Between 2018 and 2024, Zadina played in 262 games in the NHL for Detroit and San Jose, where he scored 41 goals and 50 assists.
