McDavid and Draisaitl set the record straight about their reactions to the St. Louis Blues offer sheets

Earlier in the offseason, the St. Louis Blues took everyone by surprise with their offer sheets to Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg. We don't often see teams make offer sheets, especially two at the same time, because many are afraid of retaliation from the other team.

However, that didn't prevent Blues general manager Doug Armstrong from poaching Holloway and Broberg, two players who were set to become key members of the Oilers in the future.

A few days ago, during the NHL Player Media Tour, St. Louis Blues' Robert Thomas revealed that he was with multiple Oilers players, including Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, when they learned the news of the offer sheets. He said they "weren't too happy" about the offer sheets, suggesting that they were, in fact, angry.

McDavid and Draisaitl both set the record straight in a new interview, debunking Thomas' comments.

Indeed, McDavid stated that he thought Thomas' comments were "pretty funny" and that he was more surprised than angry after hearing the news.

As for Draisaitl, he added one of his typical answers, saying that they "weren't sitting there pouting like little babies."

Players form tight bonds during the hockey season, and even tighter ones when they reach the Stanley Cup Finals. We can imagine it must not have been easy for them, but it truly looks like they were more surprised than angry about the situation.
