Sportsnet have been letting go of many on-air talents recently, and the latest may be the most surprising as popular reporter Christine Simpson has been fired.

A few months ago, Sportsnet officially parted ways with Jeff Marek, who was one half of the companies most popular podcast duo, and since that point, they've cleaned house. On Wednesday, another shocking move was made, as the company officially fired Christine Simpson, who was a very popular reporter with the network, making her debut on screen way back in 1998.

We've had very little explanation about the decision regarding Marek, and now, this one came without much background information as well, with a simple post on social media all the description given for the move.
After 26-years with the company, Simpson posted a heartfelt message on social media, but makes it clear that this won't be the end of her on our screens, as she, like many fans are excited for the next chapter of her career.
Unsurprisingly, social media was full of support for Simpson, who has been an incredible figure for Sportsnet over the past two decades, and while we may never know why this move was made, there's no doubting she will land on her feet.
