Edmonton Oilers fans, here's an intriguing trade rumor that's been making the rounds, but let me warn you-this one comes with some risks that'll have you unsure about it.

Longtime Oilers insider Bob Stauffer recently hinted that with forward Evander Kane set to start the season on long-term injured reserve following surgery, the Oilers could be in the market for a defenseman. Specifically, a right-shot defenseman with some term left on his deal.
It's possible this situation makes the Philadelphia Flyers a natural trade partner for GM Stan Bowman center around Rasmus Ristolainen.
Ristolainen has size, physicality, and a big shot, but his defensive play has often been criticized. Still, given that there's a need for size on the right side, it's enticing.
The idea of adding someone like Ristolainen could work with Kane's cap relief. The 29 year-old is in the third year of his five year, $5.1 Million AAV contract.Taking Kane's off the books clears $5.6 million.
The candidates are scare, and Ristolainen might be the best option available. Philadelphia could offload him at half salary retained, and Edmonton has shown interest before.
Two years ago when Ken Holland was still in charge, the Oilers nearly pulled off a trade with Flyers GM Danny Briere. Could this be the time it finally happens?
However, the question remains-would Ristolainen be the right fit to solidify Edmonton's blue line, or would his shortcomings outweigh the potential benefits?
Ristolainen is coming off a season which was cut short by a triceps injury but is expected to be ready for the start of Flyers training camp.
