According to an insider, the Edmonton Oilers will lose a top forward in free agency following their elimination from the Stanley Cup Finals by the Florida Panthers.
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period confirmed that the Oilers' trade deadline acquisition Adam Henrique will enter the free agent market on July 1 to sign with another organization.
David Pagnotta: "Adam Henrique is expected to hit free agency and after his playoff performance, his value has certainly been given a solid boost. He's unlikely to re-sign with the Oilers and will attract plenty of interest July 1."
"Adam Henrique is not re-signing with the Edmonton Oilers and will hit free agency on July 1st. Per David Pagnotta."
Henrique was acquired by the Oilers in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Edmonton sent their 2024 first-round pick and a conditional 5th-round pick in 2025 for Henrique and Sam Carrick.
The 34-year-old forward appeared in 22 regular-season games, in which he scored six goals and three assists, as well as three goals and three assists in 15 playoff games despite injuries.
He will likely generate a lot of interest on the market as many teams should be looking to add experienced and talented players like him to their roster.
