After a brutal slash last night by Edmonton Oilers forward Sam Carrick on Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov the NHL has handed down a punishment.

Last night the Stanley Cup Final game between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers was filled with controversy. One of the biggest topics of discussion was a slash given out by Sam Carrick to a sensitive area of Dmitry Kulikov.
Dmitry Kulikov NAILS Sam Carrick and Carrick gets him back between the legs
This slash left many fans calling for Sam Carrick to be fined or suspended. Now less than 24 hours later it has been confirmed that Sam Carrick will indeed be facing a fine for his actions in Game 2.
Edmonton's Sam Carrick has been fined $2,213.54, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for slashing Florida's Dmitry Kulikov.
According to Elliotte Friedman, no other discipline will be handed out as a result of this game. That means that Leon Draisaitl will get away with his big hit on Aleksander Barkov without extra punishment.
This is going to be the only supplemental discipline from Game 2
With the stage set for Game 3, the Edmonton Oilers know they will have their full compliment of players on hand to try and claw back into the series. Game 3 will take place on Wednesday night.
