Last night one of the most crucial goals scored in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals is under scrutiny for a mistake made by an official during play.

The Edmonton Oilers were looking to tie up the series after losing Game 1 despite dominating the game. After taking a 1-0 lead things were looking good for the Oilers until a goal from Panthers defenseman Niko Mikkola.
Mikkola almost scores on Bob... then beats Skinner.

Fun, wild sequence.
Shortly after the goal was scored fans discovered that the goal was allowed due to a major error by one referee on the ice. As the play is coming into the Edmonton Oilers zone Oilers forward Connor Brown is skating back to cover Niko Mikkola until he runs right into a referee in the wrong spot at the wrong time.
Anybody else see the ref stop Connor Brown before that goal????

Take one more look at the play and watch as Connor Brown skates along the right side of the screen trying to get back in the play.
While this wasn't the most egregious contact from the referee it did impact Connor Brown's path back into the play. The Panthers would go on to win 4-1 so in the end one goal likely wouldn't have made too much of a difference in this scenario. Heading into Game 3 the Edmonton Oilers are in a must-win scenario.
