The Edmonton Oilers have officially been faced with two massive offer sheets, but according to a report, things never should have gone this far.

The past 24 hours have been a whirlwind for the Edmonton Oilers and new General Manager Stan Bowman, and now a shocking report has been revealed making it much worse for the Oilers.
After the St. Louis Blues tendered offer sheets to both Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway, insider Bob Stauffer has shockingly unveiled that upper management in Edmonton went to former GM Ken Holland in January to extend both players, before he ultimately refused.
"I can 100% guarantee you that upper management, Ken Holland the General Manager at that time, as far back as December and January were instructed at the top levels of the Oilers organization to get Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg signed to contract extensions, especially in the month of January when both players were in the minors." Stauffer said.
This report dates back to their time in the AHL, where the Oilers would have likely got both players on long-term deals for much cheaper than the offer sheet prices put forth by St. Louis, and if they do end up losing both, it will be a fitting end to Holland's ultimately disappointing tenure as Oilers General Manager.
